🌎The
Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is approaching the moon, with a lunar orbit injection
slated for August 5 and a gentle landing scheduled on August 23. According to
the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has
completed roughly two-thirds of its voyage to the moon, and a significant Lunar
Orbit Injection (LOI) is scheduled for August 5 at 7:00 pm. ISRO successfully
performed a perigee burn on Tuesday midnight, elevating the spacecraft's orbit
to bring it within the moon's gravitational influence. It travelled in an orbit
288 kilometers close to Earth and 3,69,328 miles away.
👇🌍As
Chandrayaan-3 approaches its lunar destination, the propulsion module will
gradually reduce its altitude. The vehicle is scheduled to conduct 5-6 loops
around the moon during the first week of August, gradually converting to a
circular 100-kilometer orbit. A exact landing spot within the moon's south pole
area will be determined within the next ten days. Following that, the lander
will deorbit and seek a soft touchdown.
👍"During the Lunar orbit insertion, the craft will reach the vicinity of the moon and within the Lunar gravitational influence," he explained of the approaching Lunar Orbit insertion. Following that, it would use its onboard engines to slow down and be captured in Lunar orbit. The spacecraft would then begin to circle the moon in a highly eccentric orbit." Dr Annadurai got the nickname 'Moon Man of India' after making significant contributions to India's first lunar expedition, Chandrayaan-1, as its Project Director.
👌Chandrayaan-3
is planned to land softly near the Moon's south pole at roughly 70 degrees
latitude. A successful Lunar soft landing would make India the fourth nation to
achieve it, following Russia, the United States, and China. The 3.9-ton Lunar
spacecraft was launched into Earth orbit on July 14th by India's biggest rocket
LVM3, marking the rocket's seventh consecutive successful mission. The
Chandrayaan-3 Lunar Lander (with the rover) weights 1750kg, whereas the rover
only weighs 26kg. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is carrying six payloads, which
are installed on the propulsion module, lander, and rover.
